Written Expression DELE A2 — Models, Examples, and Tips
The written expression of the DELE A2 lasts 50 minutes and includes 3 tasks. It is the test you can control the most: unlike listening, here you decide what to write. With practice and the correct formulas, it is a sure source of points.
The 3 Tasks
Task 1 — Complete a form or sheet (10 minutes)
What they ask for: Fill out a form with personal data or a situation: enrollment in a course, hotel reservation, library card, job application.
Tip: Read carefully what information each field asks for. If it says "reason," do not write your name. If it says "preferred schedule," do not write a date. It’s simple, but careless mistakes here cost easy points.
Task 2 — Short message (60-70 words, 15 minutes)
What they ask for: Write a message (email, note, WhatsApp) to a friend, colleague, or family member about a daily situation: inviting someone, canceling a plan, asking for a favor, saying thank you.
Model structure:
- Greeting: "Hi María" or "Dear Pablo"
- Reason: "I’m writing to you because..." (1-2 sentences)
- Development: proposal, explanation, information (2-3 sentences)
- Closing: "I look forward to your response" / "A hug"
Task example: "Write a message to your friend Pablo. Invite him to dinner this Saturday. Tell him the time, the place, and what you are going to celebrate."
Model response:
Hi Pablo:
How are you? I’m writing to you because this Saturday is my birthday and I want to celebrate it with a dinner. Can you come? We are going to the Italian restaurant in Plaza Mayor. Let’s meet at nine in the evening. Ana and Carlos are also coming. I hope you can come, it’s going to be a lot of fun.
A hug,
Luis

Task 3 — Guided text (70-80 words, 20 minutes)
What they ask for: Write a more structured text based on instructions. It can be: describe your city, tell what you did over the weekend, talk about your job, or describe your house.
They give you 4-5 points that you must include. For example:
- Describe your city: what it is like, what there is, what you like, what you don’t like, what you recommend visiting
Model response:
I live in Valencia, a large city on the east coast of Spain. It is very beautiful and has many interesting things. There are beaches very close to the center and also a very large park called Jardín del Turia. What I like the most is the weather because it is almost always sunny. What I don’t like is the traffic in the morning. If you come to Valencia, I recommend visiting the City of Arts and Sciences.
